DC Baramulla reviews Snow clearance measures, restoration of essential services

Baramulla, Dec 30: In view of the recent snowfall in the district, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar Friday convened a meeting of Sub Divisional Officers to take stock of Snow clearance measures and restoration of essential services in the district.
During the meeting, DC took a comprehensive review of various related matters during which she directed for mobilisation of additional men and machinery so that all major and link roads are cleared on war footing basis and people may not face any inconvenience in this regard.
The DC further asked the Rural Development Department to coordinate with all the volunteers of Swach Grahis in order to get Snow cleared on link roads at Village level.
She directed the officers of all line departments to Submit Snow Clearance Action Plan besides exhorted upon all the sub divisional heads to visit all the grey areas for smooth and hassle free services.
The DC also had a detailed review of various essential services including water, health and medicare and other services wherein she emphasized for restoring it within the shortest possible time.
She asked the PHE department for water tank services to Gulmarg and other areas.
While reviewing the status of the power supply scenario in the district, the DC directed the Power Development Department (PDD) to take all required measures to ensure that power supply is restored within 48 hours in rural areas and 24 hours in urban areas.
Meanwhile, the DC also directed the Chief Executive Officer, Gulmarg Development Authority to gear up men and machinery for evacuation of skidded vehicles in and around Gulmarg and also asked him to issue necessary advisory for tourists visiting the famous tourist destination, Gulmarg.
Furthermore, it was also given out in the meeting that an emergency Control Room has been established in the District Baramulla for the convenience of people in case of any exigency.
Among others, the meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Zahoor Ahmad Raina, Additional Deputy Commissioner Sopore, Parvaiz Sajad, Superintending Engineers of PMGSY, PWD, Jal Shakti, PDD, all SDMs besides functionaries of all concerned departments.
