Bandipora, Jan 3: Residents of several villages in Bandipora district on Tuesday complained that they were facing acute shortage of potable water for the last few months.
Locals from Ganie-Mohalla Ajas, Chaangali and Check-Guroora said that in absence of adequate quantity of tap water, they were being forced to use contaminated water.
The locals said their women folk face a lot of hardships in fetching water from different spots. “Amid this winter season, we are without drinking water while the concerned authorities don’t pay attention to our sufferings,” Mushtaq Ahmad local from Ajas Ganie-Mohalla said.
The villagers said they held protests in the past to highlight their plight to no avail.
The residents of affected areas appealed the chief engineer, Jal-Shakti department and the district administration to look into the matter.
