Security beefed up at Jammu railway station

Jammu, Jan 3: In wake of civilian killings in Rajouri and the upcoming Republic Day, security has been ramped up at Jammu Tawi Railway station, officials said Tuesday.
The security in and around the Jammu Railway Station was strengthened with additional deployment of security forces to assure the passengers safety and security in the Jammu was as good as in any other part of the country.
Officials said that a high level security review meeting was held at Jammu Tawi Railway station.
The meeting was chaired by Station Director Uchit Singhal with ticket checking staff, Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) to discuss the various areas which need to be focused upon.
The GRP and RPF personnel were directed to ensure safety and security concerns at the station complex with the help of sniffer dogs and metal detectors.
A separate meeting was taken with the contractors and vendors working at Jammu Tawi Railway station. They were directed to keep a strict vigil on suspicious person, activity or any unclaimed luggage to ensure safety of people using the station.
Uchit Singhal said that all incoming and outgoing trains would be checked along with the luggage of the passengers with the assistance of a specially trained dog squad capable of detecting explosives. (KNO)
