Shopian, Jan 14: The residents of Yedpora in Keller sub division of South Kashmir’s Shopian district have demanded a bridge over a local nallah Lar.
The residents of Yedpora said that they are facing a lot of problems in the absence of bridges in the area.
They said that their children are studying in schools that are lying on the other side of the nallah and have to go through a makeshift bridge which gets washed away every summer.
Tanveer Ahmad, a local resident, said that they are facing a lot of problems in the absence of bridges, especially in case of emergency.
He said that Yedpora is lying on Pulwama and Shopian border and administration of both districts have failed in taking cognizance of the incident.
Every year the makeshift bridge gets washed away and people of the area have to suffer every year as they remain connected with Pulwama through makeshift bridge only, said another local resident Irshad Ahmad.
He said that the government has spent lakhs in making makeshift bridges but have failed in constructing a concrete bridge, he said.
Locals said that they have knocked on the doors of every government authority to get their issue redressed but to no avail.
We have high hopes on LG Manoj Sinha and DC Pulwama and Shopian that they will look into it and direct concerned authorities to look into it.
They once again requested authorities to look into the matter and construct a bridge at an earliest so that locals can heave a sigh of relief.
