Prof Tariq Ashai joins GDC Pattan, GDC Singhpora as confirmed Principal

Srinagar, Jan 16: A warm welcome was given by staff, students, members of civil society besides a large number of academia from different colleges of the valley to Prof. Tariq Ashai, on assuming the charge of GDC Pattan and GDC Singpora as confirmed Principal.
Prof Tariq Ashai has recently been selected by JK Public Service Commission and subsequently posted by Higher Education Department, Government of Jammu and Kashmir, vide Order No 10- JK(HE) of 2023 Dated 10-01-23.
As per a statement issued here, Prof Ashai has a long and illustrious career in the higher education sector, having served as President of the J&K College Teachers Association for nearly two decades.
Prof Ashai has earned name, fame and reputation for his tireless work not only as President, CTA but also as an Executive Member of All India Federation of University and College Teachers Organization(AIFUCTO), New Delhi, Convenor, Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) and Joint Co-ordination Committee (JCC), Jammu and Kashmir, Member, Executive Council, University of Kashmir, Member, Teachers’ Welfare Committee, Kashmir University, Head Deptt of Chemistry, Amar Singh College and Co-ordinator, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU).
Prof Ashai has remained chairperson in a number of national and international seminars and conferences. In addition, Prof Ashai is also a great sportsman and has organized a number of sports tournaments throughout his career.
“In his new role as Principal of GDC Pattan and GDC Singpora, Prof Ashai is expected to bring his wealth of experience and knowledge to the benefit of the students and staff at these institutions,” said a member from Academia present on the occasion.
“The community looks forward to his leadership and the positive impact he will have on the institution,” a member of civil society Pattan was quoted as saying.
