Hajin, Jan 19: Authorities have failed to complete construction of the New Type Primary Health Centre (NTPHC) in Gund-Jahangeer village of Hajin after seven years.
Locals said that the foundation stone for the NTPHC was laid in 2016, with the aim to provide better healthcare facilities to the people of the area and other adjoining villages.
“All that has been constructed is barely the four walls of the building in all these years. It looks like the center has been abandoned by the authorities,” they said.
“For the last two years, its work has stopped and people in the area are facing various problems here in terms of basic healthcare facility,” they said, adding that patients here have to either go to Sopore or CHC for minor illness.
Mushtaq Ahmad, a local said that the administration is not serious about completing the work due to which the people suffer.
The locals said that the issue was raised in various government-sponsored programmes like ‘Back to Village’ to press for its completion but nothing happened on the ground despite several promises.
An official said that the executing agency has delayed release of funds to the contractor and he refused to continue further work on the hospital.
