Srinagar, Feb 13: The Cultural Unit Kashmir of DIPR Monday organised a Panel Discussion to mark ‘World Radio Day’ Monday at Media Complex DIPR Srinagar.
Noted broadcaster, peot, writer and programme executive AIR Srinagar Satish Vimal, RJ Sameen Khan and RJ Rafeeq (Red Fm) and prominent radio voice Mubashir Rufai were the panelists whereas DIPR’s GenZ volunteers participated in the discussion.
Cultural Officer Kashmir, Burhan Hassain formally welcoming the panelists detailed about the evolution, innovation and career avenues linked with the Radio Journalism.
It’s a most promising mass medium that is becoming increasingly relevant with every passing day, and students and youth should opt this amazing profession, he added.
Moderating the session, AECO Syed Shakeel Shan highlighted the contribution radio has made throughout its 111 years journey and lauded role of UNESCO in celebrating it on world level for past 11 years as World Radio Day.
During the panel discussion Satish Vimal said that there is need of greater connection among the radio lovers and society at large to carry forward its journey within the ever changing and hi-tech world.
RJ Sameen spoke on the emergence of community Radio and its role in addressing local issues and preserving culture and languages.
RJ Rafeeq said that Radio is a clean and controlled media that reaches with utmost efficiency where no other media can reach.
The DIPR student volunteers asked questions on various aspects of Radio and its relevance in today’s world.
