A decade of Digital India

With the conclusion of the third edition of Khelo India Winter Games, the youngsters from Jammu and Kashmir have sent a message to every nook and corner of the country that there is no dearth of talent and they are ready as well as competent enough to defeat the champions of any sport. The five-day winter games witnessed enthusiasm all across while the players from Jammu & Kashmir proved their in every sport by bagging the highest number of medals including 26 Gold, 25 Silver and 25 Bronze. In such a way, the youngsters have proved that the government’s efforts with regard to the development of sports infrastructure are not getting wasted, but the youth are making their way in different sports to make the country proud in every aspect. It is not the first time that the youngsters from Jammu & Kashmir have proved their metal, but from time to time, the sports players are creating history by emerging victorious and making the country proud in different sports. Similarly, one must not forget Jasia Akhtar from south Kashmir’s Shopian district, which was once a hot-bed of militancy, who has made it to the Women’s Premier League (WPL) as she was sold by Delhi Capitals just yesterday at Rs 20 lakhs. Such events are testimony to the fact that the youngsters have enough talent, but the lack of infrastructure and platform was depriving them to show their talent and represent the country in different sports. However, more steps to further augment the sports infrastructure has to be taken in Jammu & Kashmir so that the youngsters would be able to flourish their skills in different sports and would get a chance to represent the country in the future.
