Police solve two theft cases in Handwara, three held

Srinagar, Feb 18: Police in Handwara have solved two theft cases by arresting 3 accused persons and recovered stolen property from their possession.
During the investigation of case FIR No. 7/2023 of Police Station Handwara regarding the theft of Motorcycle on 13/01/2023 in Gonipora area of Handwara, a police party led by SHO Handwara during the further course of investigation, identified one accused person Shafkat Shareef Pir son of Mohd Shareef resident of Gundsana Hyhama Kupwara. Subsequently, he was arrested and on his disclosure stolen Motorcycle was recovered. Moreover, the vehicle (Tata Mobile) used in the commission of crime was also seized.
Furthermore, on 16/02/2023 Police Station Handwara received a complaint regarding the theft of iron roads from a shop at Bypass Handwara. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 30/2023 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Handwara and investigation was initiated.
During the investigation, officers investigating the case learnt about the involvement of two accused persons identified as Mudasir Majeed Shah son of Ab Majid resident of Jamia Qadeem Sopore and Nasir Ahmad Sofi son of Mushtaq Ahmad resident of Naseembagh Sopore A/P Kushal Colony Sopore who were subsequently arrested for their involvement in the commission of crime. On their disclosure, around 14.5 quintals of stolen Iron rods were recovered. The vehicle (Truck) used in the commission of crime was also seized.
Further investigation in both the cases is going on to ascertain further involvement of accused persons in other theft cases.
