In yet another instance, a leopard has been spotted in Srinagar outskirts here; sounding alarm within the habitations as such happenings in the past have already claimed many lives. It has been reported that the children have died in the past in man-animal conflict, but the presence of such deadly animals have never stopped in the recent past, pointing a finger over the administration with regard to ceasing the forest areas, where the animals live. The presence of deadly animals like leopard in habitation is always dangerous as until and unless the concerned officials make attempts to capture the animal alive, the situation in the area gets panicky, even the threat to the life keeps looming while the local residents don’t even bother to come out of their homes for hours together. In one such similar incident, a leopard was spotted in Srinagar’s Rawalpora area while the authorities at the Wildlife department claimed that the teams and traps have been laid to capture the animal. The teams have already been deputed, as per the officials, for the last three days and that all measures are in place to capture the animal. However, the animal is yet to be captured. One fails to understand what measures are being taken by the administration and especially the wildlife department to ensure that the presence of the deadly animals in the habitations are prevented. It is unfortunate that no visible measures are there to prevent the presence of deadly animals in the habitations. There is a need to safeguard the precious lives and ensure that the presence of animals in the habitations is put to an immediate end so that the people could heave a sigh of relief.
