2 killed, 12 injured in Rajouri accident

Rajouri, Mar 2: Two persons were killed while 12 others sustained injuries, two of whom are critical, after a passenger vehicle met with an accident at Samiti Phalni falling under the jurisdiction of Budhal Police Station in Rajouri district.
Officials said that a minibus bearing registration number JK11-0836 was on its way from Kotranka to Budhal when the driver lost his control over the vehicle and it turned turtle, causing injuries to 14 passengers.
They said that many passengers got stuck under the vehicle and villagers from the area rushed to the spot and removed all the injured and took them to Community Health Center (CHC) Kandi.
Officials said that 14 injured were brought to CHC Kandi, however, one of the injured was declared as brought dead while another succumbed to injuries post arrival.
The deceased have been identified as Shakeel Ahmed (30) son of Mohammad Bashir resident of Kewal Budhal and Badar Hussain (26) son of Khan Mohammad resident of Kandi.
Three injured are still under treatment at Kandi hospital while nine others were referred to GMC Associated Hospital Rajouri for specialized treatment due to their serious injuries, officials said.
The injured have been identified as Mohammad Amin (50), Sadam Hussain (30), Mohammad Hafiz (32), Bego Begum (50), Mohammad Irfan (30), Abdul Rashid (50), Pushpa Devi (18), Billo Begum (60), Zahida Begum (60), Parveen Akhter (40), Sobia Kouser (18) and Shahida Begum (45).
Doctors at GMC Associated Hospital Rajouri said that nine injured were brought in the hospital for treatment while the condition of three among them is critical.
Doctors said that two among the three critical patients have been referred to GMC Jammu, who have been identified as Mohammad Hafiz and Mohammad Irfan.
The other seven injured are presently undergoing treatment at GMC Associated Hospital Rajouri.
Police also said to have taken up investigation and legal proceedings of the matter after registration of a case under relevant sections of law in Budhal police station.
Meanwhile, Lieutenant Governor Manoj has expressed shock and grief over the loss of lives in a tragic road accident in Rajouri.
In a condolence message, the Lt Governor said: “I send my heartfelt condolences to the members of the bereaved families and wish those injured a speedy recovery. I have issued instructions to the district administration to provide all necessary assistance to the affected persons.”
