Khatana reviews developmental activities in Baramulla

Baramulla, Mar 4: Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), Er. Ghulam Ali Khatana on Saturday convened a meeting of officers to review the developmental projects and implementation of centrally sponsored schemes in Baramulla district.
The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Baramulla, Ajaz Abdullah Saraf; Joint Director Planning, M. Yousuf Rather; ACD Baramulla, Shabir Ahmad Hakak; Superintendent Engineers and all other district officers.
ADDC welcomed the MP and briefed him about the developmental plans.
On the occasion, Joint Director Planning presented a detailed presentation of the developmental journey of the district from past few years.
The meeting was informed that the district witnessed visible transformation in road connectivity as over 575 km length of roads have been macadamized in three years registering a record while PMGSY connected 105 new habitations through a web of roads in remote areas.
While reviewing the power sector , it was given out that transmission and distribution losses have been minimised to the negligible besides upgrading the power infrastructure.
While reviewing the education scenario in the district, it was revealed that district administration provided internal support to the department under convergence besides organising talent hunt, exposure conferences and National Science Mela.
It was given out that Kindergartens have also been established across district under Aspirational award assistance.
The chair was further informed that gross enrollment has been scaled in the last couple of years.
While reviewing the implementation of schemes of Rural Development, the chair was informed that 15112 works were taken up for execution under MGNREGA in which 5780 works have been completed in the current financial year.
The meeting was further informed that 339 houses were sanctioned under PMAY in which 330 houses have been physically completed.
It was given out that play fields have also been taken up for execution at panchayat level under convergence mode to give boost to the sports activities so that youth are involved in sports activities.
Further, the MP reviewed implementation of Social Security and Scholarship schemes. It was given out that 92800 souls are benefitted with financial assistance under Social Security Schemes including Old Age Pension Schemes, Widow Pension Schemes and Disability Pension Scheme etc.
Regarding functioning of Integrated Child Development Scheme ( ICDS ), the Parliamentarian was informed that the department disbursed 2.70 Cr to the beneficiaries under Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojna (PMMVY)
While informing the meeting about the conservation of forest cover in the district it was revealed that 85 sq kms area of forest cover has been scaled up in the district since last four years.
Reviewing activities carried out under Forest Rights Act (FRI), it was revealed that forest dwellers carry out cultivation and other identified activities at individual and community level.
Regarding functioning of Animal Husbandry department and implementation of schemes for livestock production, the chair was informed that the department scaled up the milk production to 19.50 Cr Ltrs in the district.
The meeting was further informed that 386 units of cattle farming have been sanctioned. It was further informed that district carries out Artificial Insemination and recently three mobile Veterinary Clinic Vans were inaugurated in the district for treatment of the livestock at doorsteps of the beneficiaries. The district produces 0.69 lac Kgs of mutton annually besides 20.13 lac Kgs of wool production.
While explaining the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission, Rs 847.5 Crores investment in the sector will ensure that pure drinking water reaches to every household.
He said 338 works are under execution while 402 VAPs have been approved by PRIs and Pani Samities.
