The developmental works are presently going on at a rapid pace in Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, but at the same time, the people, especially the commuters are facing tough times at present as the roads have been dug at most of the places, leading to the frequent traffic congestion in and around the commercial Hub area of Lal Chowk. The ongoing developmental project is going on at a time when the flow of tourists is very high. According to the figures shared by the Director Tourism, over one lakh tourists from different parts of the country have visited Kashmir in the previous month—February, indicating a good tourist season ahead. Pertinently, the flow of tourists in Kashmir was record high as 1.80 crore tourists as per the government visited Jammu & Kashmir last year. This year too, the tourism players as well as the government are expecting a huge footfall of tourists in the Union Territory, but the completion of ongoing works would only ensure smooth passage to the tourists and thus puts the responsibility on the shoulders of the administration to ensure that the ongoing works are completed in time. The administration has already stated that the work will be completed by the end of March, but it needs to be ensured that the visitors are not forced to face hardships anywhere in the upcoming tourist season and thus more pace is needed at this juncture to complete the developmental projects on time.
