Finally, the mandatory step to disconnect the electricity lines of the defaulters has been taken by the authorities concerned and dozens of people, especially in Jammu region, have faced the action, who include the top political leaders of Jammu and Kashmir as well, which indicates the resolve of Power Distribution Corporation Limited with regard to realizing the pending power tariff from the general public. Back in Kashmir, many people have faced the electricity disconnection in the month of February, last year, but in a Monday’s meeting, chaired by Managing Director, Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL), the officers have been strictly directed to ensure that all those who are defaulters will face action for not paying the monthly power tariff sine long, turning out a main reason behind the present losses of the department. Tightening the noose against the defaulters is the only way out to put an end to the losses and ensure the progress of the department amid the augmentation of the power infrastructure in Jammu & Kashmir, especially in the past couple of years. Disconnecting the electricity connections of the defaulters was the need of the hour. Better late than never. The government must not spare any defaulter and ensure that all the defaulters will face the similar action, irrespective of the response from them. There is a need to speed up the action in this regard and ensure that there is no delay from the employees on the ground, which must be directed to complete the process within a stipulated time.
