Jammu, Mar 17: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, Friday chaired 26th to 43rd Annual General Meetings (AGMs) of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes, (SCST&BC) Corporation at Civil Secretariat here.
The meeting was attended by Commissioner Secretary, Social Welfare Department, Sheetal Nanda; Managing Director SC, ST and BC Corporation, representatives from finance, Planning, shareholders of the Corporation and other concerned departments both in person and through video conferencing.
During the AGM, Advisor held detailed deliberation on financial position of the Corporation and also reviewed various aspects related to overall growth of this corporation.
The AGM which was held after a gap of eight years took some significant decisions for improving the overall health of the corporation.
The AGM adopted the accounts of the corporation which were pending till date since a very long time.
Advisor Bhatnagar, who is also the Chairman of Corporation, advised the management of Corporation to hold the AGMs on timely and regular basis so that the corporation can work effectively and reach to its zenith for which it has been established.
Meanwhile, Advisor Bhatnagar also reviewed the performance and functioning of the SCST&BC Corporation.
Addressing the officers, Advisor Bhatnagar highlighted that the SC, ST, BC Corporation has been able to make a significant difference in the lives of the marginalized communities by providing them with financial assistance for education, housing, and entrepreneurship. He asked the management of corporation to facilitate the people of marginalized communities especially the youth so that the desired objectives of corporation are achieved.
Advisor, during the meeting, also identified several areas for improvement, including the need for better outreach and awareness programs to ensure that the intended beneficiaries are aware of the schemes and their eligibility criteria. He also stressed on effective management of corporation, streamlining its loan approval process and addressing the issues of delayed disbursement and procedural complexities.
Highlighting the role of Corporation, Advisor Bhatnagar said that though the corporation is working tirelessly, there is a need for continuous improvement to ensure that its benefits reach all eligible beneficiaries.
