Pulwama, Mar 25: The inhabitants of Retinaad, Aripal in Tral hamlet of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district are up in arms against the administration for its failure in providing road connectivity in the area.
The absence of road connectivity is causing huge inconvenience to the residents of the area, the locals said.
They asked the government to bring the area under the purview of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana. The absence of proper road connectivity has rendered the people living in these areas economically backward, locals decried.
“We are not able to move their goods due to the absence of road,” the residents added.
“For ration and procurement of other essentials, we have to visit other areas and due to absence of roads, we are facing immense difficulties in getting these especially during the winters, ” the locals added.
They said due to the absence of healthcare facilities too, the patients have to cover miles to visit the adjoining health centres. “Many patients at times die on the way to the nearby hospital,” the locals said.
“Several cases of death of pregnant ladies have been reported from the area due to absence of healthcare facilities,” the locals added.
“We are treated like animals as no attention is being provided towards our village despite repeated visits to the offices of concerned officials,” they said. “You won’t find any office where we haven’t gone to get road connectivity but nothing is being done on ground.”
The residents said that there is a need to construct a few kilometre road to connect us with the nearest village which has road connectivity, but since 20 years they have been moving from pillar to post but nothing has been done so far.
“Even we are unable to carry patients on cart as a single person can travel at a time on our way which is connecting us with the rest of the world,” said Mohammad Yousuf Khan, a local resident. The residents accused the government of turning a blind eye towards their grievances.
“The successive regimes have failed to mitigate our sufferings,” the inhabitants said. “We have now put all our hopes in the present dispensation and hope that our issue is resolved,” the locals added.
They requested LG Manoj Sinha to look into the matter and resolve the sufferings of people at the earliest.
