Bandipora, Mar 25: The government middle school in Kanibath village of Bandipora paints a grim picture of the education sector in Kashmir as the school has just two classrooms for more than 109 students.
The parents, whose wards are enrolled in the school said that the school also lacks the basic infrastructure, proper accommodation and a playground.
“Keeping students of eight classes in two rooms is very difficult and injustice. In the noisy conditions, it is impossible for students to study with full concentration,” the residents said.
Sehrish Shafi, a class 8 student said that due to lack of space they are facing many difficulties here and are not able to study properly. “Students from two separate classes study in the same room due to which the students of both the classes have to face problems,” she said.
Mushtaq Ahmad, another student said that they have informed the concerned authorities but nothing has happened on the ground so far. “There is a huge shortage of space in the school and the administration should take it seriously,” he said.
The students as well as locals appealed to higher authorities to provide them additional space and mitigate their sufferings. An administrative official said that he will look into the matter after getting information from the chief education office. Meanwhile, locals urged the Education department to look into the issue immediately and address the same on priority for the sake of students.
