Jammu, Mar 28: National Cadet Corps (NCC) Cadet Zubiksha Thakur of 2 J&K Girls Battalion, Jammu has cracked the Service Selection Board (SSB) interview and has been selected for Short Service Commission (SSC) as an officer in the Indian Army.
Thakur has been selected as part of the NCC Special Entry Scheme which enables NCC cadets holding the “C” Certificate to report directly for the SSB interview.
Zubiksha credited her success to the support of her family, her mentors and friends as well as her training as an NCC cadet that helped her in developing discipline and character.
She said her training in NCC, especially her participation in the Republic Day Parade at New Delhi as an NCC Cadet, was instrumental in motivating her to choose the Armed Forces as the career of her choice.
Having successfully cleared the Services Selection Board (SSB) at Bhopal at the beginning of March 2023, Zubiksha is now all set to join Officers Training Academy (OTA) Chennai on 31 Mar 2023.
She will be part of the Short Service Commission (NCC Special) (Women) 53rd Course at OTA Chennai. After the successful completion of 49 weeks of training at OTA Chennai, Zubiksha Thakur will be commissioned as a Lieutenant (Lt) in the Indian Army.
The NCC has been at the forefront in motivating children with the motto ‘Unity and Discipline’.
The aim of NCC is to develop character, comradeship, secular outlook, and leadership, the spirit of Adventure and ideals of selfless service amongst the youth. It provides a suitable environment for youth to join defence forces as officers and men/women.
