Decline in Hajj applications deserves attention

Seemingly an unending fear of flu-Covid-19 will never end in Jammu and Kashmir as the government has yet again claimed that 40 fresh cases have been reported in the Union Territory in 24 hours, prompting the administration to issue a bulletin once again. With the reports of fresh Covid cases in J&K, the threat of pandemic continues to hover and thus the government has once again directed the health department to increase the testing capacity so that the number of infected persons would be detected without any delay. As it is a well-known fact that there is no proper medicine to cure the pandemic, the government needs to ensure that the people follow the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in letter and spirit, which is the only way to deal with the pandemic and bring respite from the situation and prevent the previously witnessed situations across the country. However, one fails to understand that the need of issuing fresh bulletins as it is only creating fear among the public, rather, the government should have geared up its men and machinery to ensure that the Covid-related guidelines are once again followed in spirit. There is a need not to create panic over the situation, but what is mandatory and necessary, should be done for the wellbeing of the people and the prominent Epidemiologist should come up with their message to the people so that the fear is put to an end and the necessary measures are taken to prevent every citizen from the virus.
