Ramban, Apr 4: An Indian Air Force (IAF) personnel from South Kashmir Kulgam district died after his vehicle rolled down into a deep gorge in Maroog area of Ramban on Tuesday morning, officials said.
An official said that Sergeant, Directorate of Mechanical Transport (DMT) at Air Headquarters personnel identified as Sarfraaz Ahmed Bhat, a resident of Poniwah Kulgam district was travelling in his car when it rolled down into the deep gorge at Maroog.
He said soon after the accident, Police and QRT Ramban volunteers launched a rescue operation and recovered his body.
“The mortal remains of IAF personnel was brought to his home and the last rites were conducted with due military honours,” official said.
