Keep Kashmir connected

For the commuters in Srinagar City, the roadsides of every road and street is the illegal parking slot, which has pushed the general public to the wall, especially ahead of the Muslim festival, Eid-ul-Fitr. The long queues of the vehicles could be seen parked at most of the roads in Srinagar throughout the day, leaving the commuters to lurch at large. Several months have elapsed since the people in Habba Kadal are using the congested old bridge as a parking slot, shrinking the space further for the commuters. The commuters illegally park their vehicles on both sides of the bridge, thus paving a less space for the commuters to pass through the bridge. The commuters have been raising the issue with the higher ups since long, but all in vain as there has been no response in this regard. Ahead of the festival, there has been increase in the rush of shoppers in the market, but despite having two bridges available within the locality, the people continue to face hardships as one among the bridges is completely of no use as the people mostly don’t prefer to take the route because of the illegal parking on the both sides of the bridge, pushing the general public to the wall. One fails to understand why the old bridge was renovated and why a hefty sum was utilized on the bridge a few years back as the motive of the bridge has not been achieved. There is a need to bring respite to the people, especially during the ongoing days when the rush of shoppers has increased in the market so that they could heave a sigh of relief.
