In yet another instance of defaming a religious cleric, some of the social media users have uploaded an old video of a grand mufti of Jammu & Kashmir, announcing that Eid-ul-Fitr to be celebrated on Saturday, which has gone viral on social media platforms. It is the second instance since the beginning of the holy month Ramadhan that the prominent religious cleric has been trolled on the social platforms, prompting the concerned to lodge a complaint against the persons involved in maligning his image. Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam, who is the grand Mufti of J&K has been allegedly defamed by uploading his old video wherein he has stated that the Eid will be celebrated on Saturday. Although there has been no word about the date of celebrating the Eid, but at the same time, attempts have been made to create chaotic scenes among the people by uploading the old video. At a time when the role of religious clerics is imperative to end the social crimes, especially to put an end to the drug menace from the society, there is a need to maintain the dignity of these religious jurists so that there is no chaos among the people and the value of these clerics is preserved so that their mission to end the social crimes is not hampered. Therefore, the police must swing into action and take strict action against those who are involved in defaming the religious clerics by uploading the old videos and ensure that such elements are not allowed to create rifts among the sects.
