Bandipora, Apr 25: The anti-poaching team of Forest Protection Force claimed to have seized one punt gun from near Wular lake in Kulhama area in Bandipora on Tuesday.
An official said that on a tip-off, they carried and seized the gun.
The official said that one punt gun which was loaded to shoot large numbers of waterfowl for commercial hunting was seized from the spot while further investigation was initiated.
“The use of punt guns by poachers has been reduced to a large extent during the current year with extra efforts put forth by the sleuths of Anti-poaching Forest Protection Force and Wular Conservation and Management Authority,” he said.
He said nine punt guns have been seized from different locations around Wular Lake this year so far.
He also said that the anti-poaching raids will continue in future to ensure zero percent poaching.
