New Delhi, Apr 27: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will e-inaugurate 91 FM transmission stations located in 18 states and two union territories, in a move that will boost FM radio connectivity in the border regions and aspirational districts.
During the live programme of the Prime Minister, three such FM transmission stations will be inaugurated at Khaltsi, Nyoma, and Diskit subdivisions of Ladakh Union Territory.
The Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Anurag Thakur, is expected to join the live e-inauguration of the programme from Doordarshan Kendra Leh.
The three new 100-watt FM transmitters in different subdivisions of Ladakh will play a vital role in reaching out to the people of Ladakh as a source of information and entertainment and also serve the local population to promote their culture, language, and communication.
This move will prove beneficial to people living in border areas, as radio services will reach an additional two crore people who didn’t have such access so far. The coming up of the transmission stations will strengthen terrestrial coverage in border areas and will also allow the listeners to be adequately informed about the country’s policies, news, and current affairs.
The expansion takes place two days before the landmark 100th episode of Mann ki Baat, the prime minister’s monthly radio programme.
