The education is the right of every single individual. Be it a poor, middle class or the rich people, the education is imperative for one and all. But at the same time, the students should get better education, which is only possible when the people at helm will ensure the entire basic infrastructure at the educational institutions. The mandatory infrastructure for better and quality education has always been ignored by the successive regimes, which has resulted in sufferings to the students enrolled in different institutions across Jammu and Kashmir. There are many schools in the Valley which paints grim picture of the education sector while many of the schools don’t even have proper teacher-student ratio. There are number of schools across the Valley and many of them are functional in rented accommodations. Besides, some of the schools in far-flung areas are functional in tin sheds. This situation can only be witnessed in Jammu and Kashmir due to the non-seriousness of the people at helm so far. One fails to understand that when shall the situation of these situation improve. There are people who question the working of the concerned department who don’t even bother to improve the situation of these schools. The government had earlier taken steps to merge the schools to improve the situation of educational sector. But, on ground it fails to attract the people and improve the scenario, thus leaving students to lurch at large. The government needs to take cue from the Delhi government which has improved the educational sector in a better way from last couple of years and many people have been happily enrolling their children to these schools. For better and quality education for poor students in Jammu and Kashmir, there is a need to come up with the high quality infrastructure at the educational institutions so that the downtrodden section of the society will not be pushed to the wall and they avail the basic and mandatory benefits. And to begin with, the government needs to come up with proper buildings and concrete structures for the schools that are being run from tin sheds and rented accommodations.
