Handwara, May 5: The weather remained dry and pleasant in Kashmir Valley on Friday, however, the peripheral areas of north Kashmir’s Handwara district witnessed a hailstorm that damaged fruits and crops much to the frustration of the farmers.
Locals from affected villages said that there was a hailstorm that last for over 10 minutes. The villages that were hit by hailstorm included Magam, Batpora, Neelipora, Khanpora, etc.
They said that orchards and vegetable gardens suffered losses due to the unexpected hailstorm. “The weather was sunny but unexpectedly, sun disappeared under clouds and within minutes weather turned cloudy and there was a massive hailstorm,” said a farmer.
Meanwhile, MeT has predicted intermittent rains on Saturday with cloudy weather. [KNT]
