Srinagar, May 6: At least four persons including a husband-wife duo were killed on Saturday in lightning strike and cloudburst incidents in Kashmir, officials said.
A husband-wife duo died due to cloudburst in Pampore hamlet of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
An official said that a cloudburst occurred at Bojhbagh area of Samboora in Pampore, leaving persons dead. The duo has been identified as Hilal Ahmad Hanji (25) son of Abdul Hamid Hanji and his wife Rozia Jan resident of Bojhbagh Samboora.
Meanwhile, police have taken cognizance of the incident and started an investigation.
Meanwhile, two persons including a woman were killed after lightning struck them at Khansahib area in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
An official said that a lady and a man were breeding their sheep in a higher altitude area when the lightning struck them this afternoon. The incident took place at Sochalpathri Mujpathri, he said.
Station House Officer (SHO) Khansahib, Mubashir Ahmad confirmed the incident to KNO and identified the duo as Mohd Sultan Chopan (57) and Taja Begum (45) wife of Abdul Samad Chopan, resident of Gurweith Kalan.
