Srinagar, May 6: Jammu and Kashmir administration on Saturday said that the dates for G20 event have been declared while the countdown has been started and the works started ahead of the event are in the final stage & will be completed soon.
Talking to the reporters after inaugurating two-day painting exhibition at Government Arts Emporium Srinagar, Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, said that the dates for G20 meeting have been declared already while the countdown has been started.
“The deadline for the ongoing works was fixed and I had informed you that the works will be completed by April 15. However, due to the sudden change in the weather conditions for the first time in the Valley and also due to the holy month of Ramadan, the works could not be completed. But, we have been making efforts and the works are in the final stage, which will be completed soon,” he said.
Bidhuri also said that the macadamization of roads, tile work and paintings are going at the same time, adding that maybe after one more week, the works will be completed. “The work at least on the route part will be completed in the next one week and the remaining will also be completed shortly,” he said.
He further added that tourism is going to get a huge benefit from the G20 event. “Already, Kashmir is known for its picturesque places and the representatives of different countries, who are associated with tourism, are visiting here,” he said.
He also said that the record of previous year’s footfall will break this year as the jam-packed flights are arriving here already and the event is going to boost the sector further.
About the traffic movement during G20 event, he said that the people will not face any inconvenience, but the traffic movement will be announced at the appropriate time.
