Keep Kashmir connected

The Srinagar-Jammu highway continued to remain in the news for the fatal accidents as the incidents are being reported on daily basis in which several people have lost their lives while many others were injured. In one such instance, two middle-aged men were killed after their car skidded-off the road and fell into a deep gorge near Malhori village on Batote – Kishtwar National highway Thursday evening. The two persons have become the latest victims of the national highway as the road continues to claim the lives of many people on a regular basis, but the government has failed to take any concrete measures to bring relief among the commuters in this regard. One fails to understand why the authorities concerned have failed to come up with the initiatives that would decrease the number of accidents along the Srinagar-Jammu highway. The initiatives in this regard are imperative at this juncture to ensure that the precious lives are saved and the accidents are put to an immediate end. There is a need to take all the precautions and the suggestions put forth by the committees so far so that the increasing number of accidents are reduced to a large extent. The time calls for immediate measures to decline the accidents and thus the government should direct the already formed committees to submit their reports and suggestions so that the action is taken at the shortest possible time and the people here could heave a sigh of relief.
