Anantnag, May 13: A motorist and his pillion rider were killed in a road accident at Mattan area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Saturday.
An official said that a Scooty was hit by a vehicle near a grid station Hutmurah, resulting in spot death to the motorist, while his pillion rider was injured.
He said that the injured was rushed to a Sub District Hospital (SDH) Seer for treatment, where he also succumbed to his injuries.
The deceased have been identified as Fayaz Ahmad Malik (35), son of Bashir Ahmad Malik of Shumhal Aishmuqam and Riyaz Ahmad Hajam (33), son Sonaullah Hajam of Shumhal Aishmuqam.
Meanwhile, police have taken cognisance of the incident.
