Srinagar, May 22: Amid tight security arrangements, the delegates from different G-20 countries arrived in Srinagar on Monday to attend the 3rd Tourism Working Group Meeting, here at SKICC.
The delegates after arriving at Srinagar International Airport straightly drove to SKICC where the discussion and deliberations on the five key priority areas namely Green Tourism, Digitalization, Skills, MSMEs and Destination Management will be held.
The highest number of delegates are from Singapore, reports quoting the officials said, adding that the main event is scheduled to be held tomorrow (Tuesday) at SKICC where a side event on ‘Film Tourism for Economic Growth and Cultural Preservation’ was held.
As per the officials, a panel discussion aligned with the 5th priority of Tourism Working Group, highlighted the challenges associated with country-specific enablers adopted for promoting destinations through films and also emphasised the impact of film tourism on these destinations.
Meanwhile, tight security arrangements were made in and around the venue to ensure smooth and peaceful conduct of the event while Marine Commandos, Army, CRPF and other security personnel are on vigil on the ground to ensure a safe and secure G20 meeting. The road leading to the venue will remain closed for the vehicular movement for two days as the traffic police have issued an advisory, appealing people to adopt an alternate route for two days (May 22-May 23).
While arriving, the delegates from different countries were welcomed with traditional and cultural rituals at Srinagar International Airport.
The representatives from different countries were greeted with folk Kashmiri music and dance soon after their arrival at Srinagar airport.
A group of five musicians were seen performing to welcome the guests while scores of girls also performed ‘Rouf’—a traditional Kashmiri dance. Besides, some other events were also witnessed at the arrival of the delegates.
Reports said that initially the flowers were showered on the guests as part of welcoming them at the Srinagar airport following which the mesmerizing events in the premises of airport enthralled the guests.
Moreover, the Oscar winning movie RRR co-star, Ram Charan arrived in Srinagar to take part in a side event of the third G20 Tourism Working Group Meeting in the valley.
The RRR fame Telugu star Ram Charan attended the event on “Film Tourism for Economic Growth and Cultural Preservation”, a side event of the G20 meeting.
Notably, Ram Charan co-starred in RRR which won Oscar in the Best Original Song category earlier this year for “Naatu Naatu”.
