Charm of village

The unexpected change in the weather conditions in Kashmir continued to be witnessed for the past over one week while the gusty winds, hailstorm and the moderate rainfall continue to be recorded, bringing down the mercury, especially in evening hours across the Valley. It has been witnessed that during the inclement weather conditions, the people, who were out, had to face tremendous hardships while during the gusty winds Monday, tourists got stuck in Shikaras at world famous Dal Lake. River Police wing of Srinagar Police safely rescued 21 tourists in different sorties by speed boats. The Tourists were stranded in Shikaras inside Dal Lake, because of sudden changes in weather and gusty winds. Following the incident, the police issued an advisory, appealing people to avoid going inside Dal Lake in inclement weather. The Meteorological department is usually issuing the fresh weather advisories and there is a need to follow the precautions and continuously get updates with the predictions and forecast so that no untoward occurs anywhere. The shikarwalas and others should ensure that all the weather advisories are followed in spirit so that the incident like today is not repeated and the lives are not put at risk during the inclement weather conditions. Until and unless the weather conditions improve, the authorities should ensure that there is no loophole and violation anywhere so that the tourists visiting from different states enjoy without any trouble or hardship.
