Ganderbal, Jun 8: The Urs of Hazrat Baba Nizam-ud-Din Kiyani (RA) was observed with fervour and gaiety here at Baba Nagri in Kangan area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.
It was a confluence of devotees from across the Union Territory on the 126th annual Urs who paid obeisance at the Dargah of Hazrat Baba Kiyani (RA).
On the concluding day on Thursday, a joint prayer was held in which devotees prayed for peace, prosperity, unity, brotherhood and communal harmony.
Besides other religious personalities, Sajadah Nasheen Mian Altaf Ahmad while addressing the congregation highlighted the life and contribution of Hazrat Baba Nizam-ud-Din (RA) and his successor Mian Bashir Ahmed. He stressed upon the people to work for the welfare of humanity and follow the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
The devotees expressed their satisfaction and were overwhelmed after attending the special prayers. They vowed to follow the teachings of Hazrat Baba Nizam-ud-Din (RA) and to work for the welfare of humanity.
The annual Urs started on June 6 and concluded on June 8 with night-long prayers and special prayers. An estimated sixty to eight thousand people from Poonch, Rajouri, Kathua, Doda, Shopian, Bandipora, Baramulla and other districts, as well as from other parts of the country participated.
Sajadah Nasheen Mian Altaf Ahmad said that the people in large numbers attended the Urs.
“On the eve of today’s Urs Mubarak, people from all over Jammu and Kashmir came here. I tried to encourage them to visit their homes first before going outside. It is important for individuals to prioritise their children, as they are the future,” Mian Altaf said.
