Srinagar, Jun 12: Long queues of vehicles on the busiest Dalgate road in the wake of under construction Dalgate-Khayam bridge is causing immense hardships to commuters.
Locals said that frequent traffic jams along the stretch have hit normal life in the area and demanded immediate completion of the bridge.
“These gridlocks have negatively impacted our lives. Authorities should address the issue on war footing,” they added.
Chief Engineer, Roads and Building department (R&B), Mohammad Rafiq said that the old Dalgate bridge was sealed by the R&B department a year ago over safety concerns and hence traffic from both sides ply through a single tube.
“The pending work on the bridge is going on and will be completed in a year,” he added.
