Bandipora, Jun 15: A 2-year-old girl drowned to death in an irrigation canal in Ankhulu village of Sumbal north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Thursday.
An official said that the girl identified as Janat Zehra daughter of Javid Ahmed Dar of Sumbal village drowned in an irrigation canal.
“Shortly after the incident, a rescue operation was launched and locals took the girl to CHC Sumbal where she was declared dead,” he said.
He said after completing medico-legal formalities, the body was handed over to her family for last rites.
