Ganderbal, Jun 19: The residents of the Haripora village in this central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district are complaining of a “crisis-like situation”, saying they are without drinking water.
The residents said that they are forced to utilize unfiltered water for drinking purposes from a nearby stream as the regular supply of water is not available.
Alleging the lackadaisical attitude of the Jal Shakti department, the locals said the acute water shortage has mainly hit Malik Mohallah, Magray Mohallah and adjoining localities of the village. They have threatened of launching an agitation if their demands are not fulfilled immediately.
The locals said they have several times requested the Jal Shakti officials to resolve the issue. “However, there is no positive response from them,” said a local Nisar Ahmad.
We once again request the concerned authorities to restore the drinking water facility to the village.
An official of the Jal Shakti Department said the matter will be looked into.
