Majority of schools underperform in class 12 exams in Kupwara

Kupwara, Jun 22: In the recently declared results of class 12, 19 out of 54 higher secondary schools in Kupwara district have performed poorly with less than 50 percent results.
Kupwara district has a total of 54 Higher Secondary Schools, 102 High Schools, 700 Middle Schools and 894 Primary Schools.
As per the details available, 19 higher secondary schools have underperformed in the recently declared result of class 12 with below 50% result.
Figures revealed that 19 Higher Secondary schools have not even managed to cross 50 percent mark, raising questions on state of education in the district.
Of these underperforming institutions only 5 have managed to cross 45 per cent pass percentage. They include BHSS Sanzipora, Laderwan, Tarathpora, Batpora Magam and GHSS Kupwara. Another four more schools have managed to cross 40 percent pass percentage. They include BHSS Lone Harrie, Kralpora, Sogam, Kandi Khass.
A total of 824 boys and 742 girls appeared in the examination from the district. Of them, 350 each boys and 350 have passed the examination.
BHSS Warapora has managed to secure a 40 per cent pass percentage. “In this institution a total of 37 boys and 33 girls appeared in the examination. Of them, only 13 boys and 15 girls passed the examination,” showed the figures.
It said that three schools have not managed to touch the 40 per cent mark as well. They include BHSS Kalaroos, GHSS Trehgam and BHSS Halmatpora have attained the pass percentage of 38.68, 39.39 and 37.86 only. In these institutions a total of 488 boys and 414 girls appeared in the examination of which 179 boys and 166 have passed the examination.
The figures also revealed that 2 institutions have even failed to secure a pass percentage of 35 per cent. BHSS Keran and BHSS Warsun have secured only 34.55 and 32.00 pass percentage. In these two institutions a total of 110 boys and 70 girls appeared in the examination of which 31 boys and 18 girls attained the pass percentage.
Three schools, the data revealed, have secured only 25, 25 and 24 pass percentage. They include HSS Tekipora, BHSS Khumriyal and BHSS Kukroosa.
A total of 315 boys and 243 girls had appeared in the examination. Of them, only 85 boys and 58 girls have a passed the exams.
At BHSS Teetwal a total of 59 boys and 20 girls had appeared in the examination. Of them, only 10 boys and 4 girls have passed the exams.
