While the heat wave has gripped most parts of Kashmir from the last nearly five days, the people in several areas have complained of inadequate water supply, thus simultaneously pushing them to the wall. The reports have not only been received from villages, but a few areas in Srinagar City too have been receiving inadequate water supply with most of the consumers claiming that they have been receiving the supply only two times a day. It has been observed that the people at the helm of affairs in all the successive regimes have promised adequate basic facilities to the people so far, but the people have been disappointed from time to time as they are not receiving the basic supplies, which could have satisfied them. Presently, the consumers in Kashmir are facing erratic power cuts, and at the same time, the inadequate water supply has pushed the people to the wall. One fails to understand why the residents in City areas are still being forced to face hardships in absence of the adequate water supply. Receiving water supply only two times a day is indeed not sufficient especially when the maximum temperature is increasing with each passing day. It is the time when the administration led by Lieutenant Governor should intervene in the matter and ensure that the people are not pushed to the wall and the basic facilities are supplied to them adequately so that the people could heave a sigh of relief.
