Budgam, Jun 26: Tourist destination Tosamaidan in this central Kashmir’s Budgam district is witnessing a good flow of visitors, while the administration says it is working on developing the place.
An official from the Tosamaidan Development Authority said that the administration is taking every step that would help the destination to be more attractive so that a large number of tourists would visit here.
“The government has implemented many things to entice more visitors, and positively, the number of visitors has increased by almost 40 percent in the financial year 2022–2023 compared to the preceding year,” he said.
During the year 2021-2022, a total number of 7,638 people visited Tosamaidan; however, in 2022-2023, a total of 10921 people visited the destination, which is 42 percent more than the earlier record, the official informed.
Another official said that so far, 95 percent of work on several projects at Saitaran Base camp Tosamaidan has been completed. The works, he said, include a TRC building, cafeteria, two single-storey double-bed huts and a toilet block.
For the current year, various works will be done to develop the tourist place, he said, adding that these works include providing water supply to various assets/facilities at Tosamaidan and Sitharan, construction of viewing decks and shelter shed on the Sitharan-Tosamaidan road, the development of the approach road to Sitaharan, BWO Berm filling and drain at spots, the balance work of existing shelter shed at Sitaharan, the ornamental benches at Sitaharan base camp, construction of PC blocks and the development of park and Shafanag on the Sitaharan-Tosamaidan road.
