Srinagar, Jul 20: Secretary Tourism Syed Abid Rashid Shah on Thursday said that after the G-20 Summit in Kashmir, there has been a significant increase in inquiries and bookings from the countries that have never visited J&K.
“With the success of the G-20 tourism summit, we are getting a lot of inquiries and bookings from the countries which had not visited here. We are confident that in the coming times, we will be able to present Jammu & Kashmir as a global destination,” he said.
Shah said tourist visits in Jammu & Kashmir will increase following the G-20’s success. “During the first 6 to 7 months of this year we have already crossed the last year’s tourist arrival figures and the number is increasing with each passing month,” he said, adding, that the rush of tourists towards J&K is a “big tribute” to the people here for their “warmth” and “hospitality”.
Along with the natural beauty and grandiosity in Kashmir, the people of both the regions from Jammu and Kashmir are fully hospitable towards tourists and pilgrims and welcome them with full warmth and affection, due to which they get a pleasurable experience and keep visiting here, he said.
The Secretary Tourism said the “hospitable” approach of people of J&K towards tourists is a “great trend”. “The whole country is witnessing this, and the foreign tourists are also turning towards J&K now,” he said.
Syed Abid said that holding the G-20 tourism summit was a watershed moment for the tourism scenario of Jammu & Kashmir. By the grace of Almighty, we were successful and are witnessing its positive results now, he remarked.
In the coming times, the people directly or indirectly associated with the tourism sector will benefit from G-20’s success, he said.
