Pulwama, Jul 22: The Pulwama-Pampore road via Kakapora in south Kashmir is in a dilapidated condition due to which locals are suffering.
Locals from various areas residing along this vital stretch said that the road is one of the most important roads of the valley connecting hundreds of villages with Pulwama town, the national highway and other vital areas.
They said the road was macadamised around four years ago and is now full of potholes, especially in Kakapora, and requires immediate repair.
The road has developed cracks at several spots and is lying in a dilapidated condition at most of the places, they said, adding that it hasn’t been macadamised for the last several years.
Fayaz Ahmad, a resident of Kakapora Pulwama, said the road has vital importance and is connecting dozens of villages with district headquarters and Srinagar, but no attention is paid to it.
He said the people living along the road as well as shopkeepers are suffering due to the dust emanated by vehicles.
This is one of the oldest roads and the only road through which Pulwama has remained connected with Srinagar for decades, the locals said, adding that the government must give attention to it for the relief of locals and other commuters.
Javed Ahmad, Executive Engineer R&B Pulwama-Pampore said, “We are waiting for approval from higher authorities to repair the road.”
