Rajouri, Aug 1: The deteriorating condition of pillars supporting the Suktoo Bridge in Manjakote has raised serious concerns among the residents of the area. The bridge, serving as a vital connection between Manjakote and Dehri Dhara, is at high risk of collapsing due to the heavy flow in the river.
“The aging pillars, which bear the weight of the bridge, have reached a critical state and could potentially give way at any moment. The safety of the people using this bridge is paramount, and the potential consequences of its collapse could be catastrophic, the local residents said.
The residents appealed the concerned officials and the government to allocate necessary funds and resources for the repair or reconstruction of the bridge. “Immediate measures are required to safeguard the lives and livelihoods of those who rely on this crucial link between the two areas,” they said.
“The repair or reconstruction of the pillars is of utmost importance in order to maintain a safe passage over the Suktoo River and prevent any untoward incidents that may arise from the bridge’s current state,” they said.
