Srinagar, Aug 3: There seems to be no let up in providing MBBS scholarship seats of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) quota to ineligible candidates of Jammu and Kashmir fraudulently.
Sources informed that the recently released merit list of the students, ‘nearly a dozen meritorious students from Jammu and Kashmir were dropped from the list’.
“Many consultants of Jammu and Kashmir are fraudulently helping the ineligible students by taking a hefty amount from them. There are many deserving students who have been dropped from the selection list released by Directorate General of Medical Education (DGME) Bangladesh,” he said.
Several meritorious aspirants this year and previously have alleged that scores of ineligible students from Kashmir were given MBBS admission fraudulently in Bangladesh under SAARC quota and the deserving ones never got justice.
One of the deserving candidates, Ubair Fayaz said, “I belong to an average middle class family. I toiled hard to get 7th position in medical stream in class 12th with 493 marks out of 500 (98.6%).”
Ubair said that he was dropped from the selection list and the ineligible candidates having lesser qualifications and pass percentage were given admissions for MBBS under SAARC quota.
Every year 23 meritorious students are selected for MBBS in Bangladesh under SAARC quota. The Selected candidate must have more than 98 percent marks in aggregate in class 12th.
“I have scored exactly 98.6 percent in aggregate with 99 percent in Physics, Chemistry with 99 percent, and Biology with 98 percent respectively. However some of the selected candidates have less marks than me and they manage to get admissions,” Ubair said.
He said that as per DGME Bangladesh, the first preferential subject for MBBS is Biology and then other subjects respectively.
“When Selection list was released, surprisingly the candidates who scored below me in aggregate and particularly in biology as well were selected,” he said.
Chairman of JK consultancies, Suhail Khan said, “He has received several complaints of the students regarding the nepotism by constants. I have taken up the matter with the concerned authorities.”
