The authorities have finally woken up from the deep slumber to reduce the number of violations by the bike and scooty riders in Srinagar and elsewhere as the Regional Transport office (RTO), Kashmir has decided to seize the two-wheelers if the riders are found without the crash helmet. Better late than ever, the concerned officials have taken a step in the right direction as it would not only help in ensuring the implementation of traffic norms on the roads, but would also put the graph of fatal accidents on two-wheelers down. However, the traffic management has been taking action against the violators for a long time, but it is for the first time that the administration has decided to go for the bike, scooty or scooter seizure in a bid to ensure that the people obey the law on the ground. Maximum of the fatal accidents on the two-wheelers is the outcome of the reluctance to follow the rules as the youngsters were seen mostly without crash helmets, which lead to the loss of precious lives in Jammu & Kashmir. But, the time has come when the society needs to put the graph down by ensuring that all the rules and regulations are followed, especially the mandatory crash helmet that is worn during the riding on the roads so that the precious lives could be saved. It is the high time when the parents need to counsel their children rigorously so that they opt to ride their two-wheelers with proper crash helmets, which would ensure their safety. But, the authorities concerned need to continue this drive till the goal is achieved and it should not be a daylong show come what may.
