Kathua, Aug 9: A soldier on leave drowned in a canal while taking a bath in Kathua district of Jammu on Wednesday, police said.
The police said that Kalki Sharma (24), a resident of Barwal village of Kathua district was on leave and had gone to beat the heat along with his friend in a canal nearby Magar Khand but got drowned.
A joint rescue team of the police and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) later fished out the body of the soldier.
