Keep Kashmir connected

It has been years since the people who were appointed as the security guards and performed their duties at different Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs) across Jammu & Kashmir. They didn’t perform their duties, but also served the people, who were unable to withdraw their amount, which simultaneously prevented the burglary attempts as well. But, the families of these security guards are now being pushed towards starvation as they have been asked to resign from their posts for unknown reasons. The decision is all set to put the security guards in trouble as they will be losing their source of income, which would affect their families at this juncture. Such an injustice should be looked into and the authorities concerned must be asked to file the reasons behind making all these security guards jobless. It is the time when the government needs to intervene to ensure that nobody is pushed towards starvation at a time when the administration has been making efforts to realize the dream of zero poverty in Jammu & Kashmir. The decision to snatch jobs from the security guards would also affect the government’s efforts vis-à-vis eliminating poverty from Jammu & Kashmir by 2024 for which the administration has already geared up. It is the time when the government should either help all the security guards in securing their jobs or come up with an alternative for them so that they could heave a sigh of relief and their family affairs are not affected.
