Ganderbal, Aug 12: Authorities on Saturday seized the illegally-constructed property on a nallah in the Preng, Kangan area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.
The action, was taken by 1st Class Magistrate Kangan and the Irrigation and Flood Control Department in the Doctors Colony, Preng.
An official said that the property owner has been instructed to appear before the Executive Magistrate within two days. The move comes as a response to the ongoing construction which directly defies legal guidelines, he said.
“We cannot condone any form of illegal construction within our jurisdiction. This proactive approach by the authorities underscores their commitment to upholding the law and preserving the environmental integrity of the region,” the SDM Kangan said.
The High Court had previously issued strict directives prohibiting any construction within a 100-meter radius of Nallah Sindh. However, the construction activities in the area adjacent to the nallah have been persisting. (KNO)
