Jammu & Kashmir used to witness restrictions communication clampdown during the celebratory events of Independence Day or Republic Day, but with the visible change on the ground, there has been not even a single instance in the past three years when the restrictions were imposed or internet facilities were suspended in the Union Territory during the events, which gives an ample indication towards the changing situation here. Unlike the past, the frequent and regular check points were not witnessed in Jammu & Kashmir, though the security measures have been taken for smooth conduct of the events across Jammu & Kashmir, but except routine checking, the frequent frisking was not seen anywhere across Srinagar, which shows how the situation has improved and the existence of peaceful atmosphere in Jammu & Kashmir. To continue with the changing scenario in J&K, the administration has made it clear that there won’t be any communication clampdown and no restrictions will be imposed during the celebratory functions across the Valley. Such a statement is an eye-opener for the whole world that people here are peaceful and extend a complete support to the government to maintain the prevailing peaceful situation, which needs to be applauded. Nothing can be achieved without the public support and similarly, the prevailing peaceful environment across Jammu & Kashmir is also the outcome of public support and thus the administration should commend the people for showing their eagerness towards peace. But, the people at the helm of affairs must not allow the anti-peace elements in any manner to disturb the peaceful environment and anyone found involved in such activities must be dealt with strictly.
