Kashmir’s soul incomplete without Noon Chai

The introduction of electric buses in Srinagar under the much-hyped Srinagar Smart City Limited (SSCL) project is all set to put an end to the lack of public transport, especially in evening hours here in Srinagar. It was the long pending demand of the locals here to ensure the availability of busses in the evening hours, but with the introduction of e-buses under smart city will bring a sigh of relief among the people as the government has stated that the buses have been procured with an aim to overcome the lack of transport availability here. It is a joyous moment for Srinagar residents as the trial run of the electric buses have started from Thursday, which will continue for the next few days and will be formally inaugurated in the next month. Jammu and Kashmir administration has procured 200 e-buses, 100 each for Jammu and Srinagar cities. These air conditioned buses with CCTVs installed inside are being procured under the Smart City project. These buses will also have digital on-boarding facility, live tracking so that people can be aware about arrival timing of the buses. However, the authorities should take all necessary steps to ensure that the newly introduced buses are taken care of properly and are not thrown away after any snag or other related things. There is a need to ensure that the facility is available in evening hours especially so that the rush of people is catered and the demands of the public are genuinely fulfilled with the introduction of these electric buses.
