Baramulla, Aug 24: Mobile phones started ringing for the at Hamam Markoot village in the hills of Rafiabad for the first time since the mobile telephony was launched two decades ago in the Valley.
Forty kilometers from Sopore, the village is known for its enchanting landscapes and is nestled in the lush green valleys and towering mountains.
The residents were excited experiencing mobile connectivity in their village.
“The installation of mobile network tower has bring immense joy and cheer to us as the area was suffering badly in absence of mobile network. This is going to help us especially students,” said a villager Haji Nawab Khan.
He said they would face immense hardships especially during emergency situations. “We won’t have to travel long distance to make calls or seek help. For this, we are thankful to DC Baramulla for fulfilling her promise of getting the village covered under mobile network,” Khan added.
The connectivity is expected to boost tourism activities in the village. (KNO)
